Little Infinities (2022)

Little Infinities is inspired by the cinematic moment in The Perks of Being a Wallflower, where the main character Charlie stands up in the cargo bed of his friend’s pickup truck, as it barrels down a golden tunnel. In this moment of pure carelessness and freedom, Charlie claims that he is infinite.

This scene inspired me to search for my own grand infinity, but when the global pandemic hit, my plans screeched to a halt. It was only through my return to UTM campus and the nostalgia that flooded my mind, did I realize that I had experienced so many little infinite moments.

The realization that life was not one grand infinity, but a mosaic of little infinite moments, inspired me to write a piece about cherishing the little things.

Fit Me (2020)

Fit Me is about my experience with colourism, as a South Asian woman. Through this short essay, I reflect on my struggles with embracing my skin tone as a young teen, and how through seeing a diverse representation of South Asian women on social media, I learned to appreciate my darker complexion.

I hope that through this piece, I can open up the conversation about colourism in the South Asian community and empower others to start their own journey of self-love and acceptance.
